Kate Rooney has been working within the Coaching and Retail Sector for over 20 years. Kate's experience spans various sectors across European and Irish Markets at a senior level. She founded The OnLegs Agency to bring coaching and consultancy services along with her business knowledge to clients to help increase potential and maximise performance.
Kate is an Accredited Performance Business and strategy Coach, Retail Consultant, Trainer and Speaker. Kate's coaching and business background give her a unique set of skills within the world of consultancy, coaching and mentoring.

What is your favourite social media platform, and why?
LinkedIn. I enjoy the interaction and engaging nature of the platform. It's a network, business and social platform rolled into one. It's also a platform that I learn from, which gives it an added value proposition. I have met many many new connections that I have met and meet regularly, which is not the case with other platforms.
Tell us about you and your current role or area of interest.
The OnLegs Agency has various legs to the agency. We offer Consultancy, Coaching, Mentoring and Training. I personally work with small and medium-sized companies as a consultant within the Retail, Wholesale, Health and Beauty sectors. I work with the business owners and leaders to help with strategy and the centre of focus for the business.
I do this through workshops and coaching. I also work with solopreneurs in my personal coaching practice to help new coaches, consultants, freelancers etc. Start their business and gain clarity of message through bringing energy and focus to their ideas.
What do you like about your career or area of focus?
Working with people who are unsure, that lack clarity and can't figure out the direction and seeing these clients gain focus and find their arrow gives me huge satisfaction.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
YOU DO YOU. You are not in competition with anyone so just do today with what you have today. Thanks, Jenny, Yoga Teacher.
What inspires you, motivates you, or helps you to move forward?
I believe we have an Internal Guidance system, and I refer to this as my arrow. I am motivated to listen and trust my arrow in order to help guide me to the life and place I am destined to live. This helps keep me focused and helps me move forward every day. Follow your arrow.
What are you proud of in your life so far?
I am very proud of The OnLegs Agency and the success we have gained in a short time. I am proud of staying true to myself and doing the right thing. Justice is important to me, and I'm proud that I honour that value.
What is your preferred way to meet new people/network?
Face to face is always best, but I also enjoy it virtually. Moreover, I am a hugger, so for that reason, face to face can't be beaten.
What skills or qualities do you feel have helped you?
The ability to listen to others. The ability to apologise if I'm wrong. The realisation that I have a guidance system. My arrow and the courage to follow my path.
What do you wish you had known when you started out?
Be clear with contracting. Manage expectations from the beginning. As a coach, it's vital to always be contracting.
Who do you most admire in business, academic or creative circles and why?
I admire people who go against the grain, stand up for their beliefs, and don't try to crowd, please.
Outside of your professional/work area, what hobbies or interests do you have or what other areas of your life are of real importance to you?
I am currently practising for a powerlifting competition. Strength of mind, body and spirit is important to me. I have many, many cats! Kindness is important to me. We can all help more than we do.
Has the pandemic had a positive or a negative effect on you and/or your business, and how have you managed it?
The pandemic made me push The OnLegs Agency. Harder and faster than I would have done without it. I think that's a good thing.
Do you have a mentor, or have you ever mentored anyone?
I have a mentor that I see monthly! I mentor and coach clients daily. Both have had positive effects on me. Every day is a school day.
What advice would you have for someone looking to get into the same area of work or interests?
Get clear on who and what you are. What makes what do you offer different? The market is quite saturated, so it's important to be clear on YOUR RED DOOR.
What do you feel is the most common reason for people failing or giving up?
Lack of Consistency.

What companies, brands, or institutions do you like or do you think are getting it right?
The accredited coaching organisations such as ICF and EMCC are helping members, and they are raising and checking standards and strong values and ethics.
How do you define success, and what lessons have you learned so far that you could share with our audience/readership?
Success is happiness and balance. Success should bring you JOY. That's what it is for me.
But… decide what it is for you. It can't be someone else's.
