Interviews Season 52

Lynne Mitchell, Holistic Integrative Health Coach, Wellness Tribe - Wellness Society

I am passionate about holistic Health and Wellbeing and helping others to 'Live to Thrive.'

What is your favourite social media platform, and why?

Twitter. I have found Twitter to be quite easy to use. Twitter has a platform called Twitter Spaces that brings communities together, discussing all sorts of subjects.

I host my own spaces and have met lots of people in this way. I like that Twitter has a very diverse audience and global user base, ranging from business owners to brands. The film, music influencers, creators, and financial matters, including NFT'S and Crypto.

“I am greatly motivated to inspire others to be free from life's burdens.”

Tell us about you and your current role or area of interest.

I am an integrative Nutrition Health Coach, a mature woman in my 60s, and I am a dedicated wife and mum of eight and grandma of 19, whom I love with all my heart - my family is the most important thing to me in the world besides God.

My current area of interest is Health and Well-being, WEB3, crypto and NFT'S. I am so proud that I have been able to get involved in a wonderful online community and learn all about evolving and exciting new ways in which technology can be used and has developed.

I host and co-host spaces on Twitter, in which the NFT community is a large part of the audience - the spaces I typically host are those that concern health and well-being and developing a healthy lifestyle, nutrition and forming holistic wellness habits.

What do you like about your career or area of focus?

I love being a Health Coach! The purpose of coaching sessions is to listen to and support your clients with their main health goals. Letting your client lead the session is the best way to do this. I, in turn, share and simplify health and wellness, unpack diet myths and the mass of wellness information out there.

I encourage my clients to go on a journey of self-discovery and ultimately find out their body has an innate ability to heal itself and, in doing so, set them free!

What is the best advice you have ever received?

My past does not define who I am nor does it dictate my future, my destiny is in my hands. I can't change my constitution (parents, DNA, race, where I was born, etc.), but I can change my condition, life, and the environment with the choices I make.

What inspires you, motivates you, or helps you to move forward?

My faith, my husband, and my children. I am greatly motivated to inspire others to be free from life's burdens. Teach them the ability to realise their intrinsic value and worth and the importance of holistic health. My motto is to live to thrive, not just survive.

What are you proud of in your life so far?

After raising my eight children, I had the courage to study a new career path in holistic health and wellbeing. And learning about NFT's Crypto and Web3, which I feel is the future.

What is your preferred way to meet new people/network?

I prefer to meet people IRL by networking in person at events and conferences and in my chosen learning portal, but as the world changes, I have come to appreciate that Twitter and Socials can be a tool to meet people too.

I find Clubhouse and Twitter can be good platforms, but they can also be scary platforms as a lot of people have an avatar as their profile, so you don't really know whose behind the picture.

What skills or qualities do you feel have helped you?

I am a very social person. I love chatting with others and meeting new people. I have a deep respect for every being. Although I do not believe any one person is better than another, we all have the opportunity to be great and have understanding and empathy toward those people who may not have the same views as our own.

I have the ability to listen and empathise with others. I strive to come alongside and teach others in the learning process. I am organised and reliable and will go the extra mile to make others feel comfortable.

What do you wish you had known when you started out?

I wish I had more formal training and a greater understanding of health and wellbeing in my youth and as a young mother. However, after an interest in holistic health and starting my health journey about ten years ago, I began researching, reading, and absorbing everything.

It would have been wonderful to have had the knowledge I do now. It makes me reflect that I could have implemented well-being practices into my and my children's lives earlier.

Who do you most admire in business, academic or creative circles and why?

One business Co-Founder I admire is Lisa Meyer from BossBeauties NFT- the arm of the business I love is Boss Beauty Foundation, formerly known as My Social Canvas. This organisation creates opportunities such as internships in WEB3, tech, art, fashion and more, as well as scholarships - all for college girls.

It is all about empowering young women, which is something I am passionate about, having seven daughters. They have made history by having the first known NFT hung in the NYSE, among many other achievements.

Lisa, her husband Anthony, along with colleague Jody and the entire team, are breaking glass ceilings and paving the way for women in business. A creative circle I admire is the NFT community.

Some amazing art has been created and I am so thankful to have been embraced by the community and am always excited to see what projects will be launching.

Some special NFT collections I would love to mention are Boss Beauties, Women and Weapons, The Royals, Club KawaiiNFT, Tales of Elatora, NFT'S for Freedom, and Pixel Face V3 NFT, Some.Place and 1/1 artist Amber Vittoria among many others!

Outside of your professional/work area, what hobbies or interests do you have or what other areas of your life are of real importance to you?

I love to spend time with my family at the weekend, having family dinners, BBQs, and picnics. I love to go for a drive with my hubby in his '66 vintage Valiant, ride my bike to the ocean, and grab a coffee at the local cafe with friends and family.

Sitting by the sea, swimming in the ocean and reading a good book is good for the soul. I love drama, romance novels, autobiographies, and real-life events. I am also a lover of history, especially ancient history.

Has the pandemic had a positive or a negative effect on you and/or your business, and how have you managed it?

It has had a positive impact as I have had the time to start writing my book on health and well-being, made global connections, and explored my passions for holistic health in a greater capacity. I also learnt about NFT'S and Web3 Crypto.

Do you have a mentor, or have you ever mentored anyone?

One of my mentors is a good friend, Lisa Thompson, a psychologist. Lisa has inspired me to believe in myself, and see that I am worthy of being loved and have something the world needs.

Another is Brenda, also known online as @mscryptomom1; she has been my mentor in health coaching and finances NFT'S Web 3 and Crypto and has encouraged me to begin writing my book (the book that I have wanted to write for quite some time).

I have mentored a young Nepalese girl named Dechen, who came to study and live with us In Australia from Nepal seven years ago - she has become like my daughter and is now in her third year of nursing at Notre Dame University in Sydney; she has actually blessed me so much with what she has achieved.

What advice would you have for someone looking to get into the same area of work or interests?

Take the leap of faith. If you love it and have a passion deep in your heart, believe in yourself and step out of your comfort zone. Dip your toe in the water; otherwise, you'll never get wet. It is more about the daily journey than the destination, take it one step one day at a time, and you will then arrive.

What do you feel is the most common reason for people failing or giving up?

Self-doubt.
Self-loathing.
Low self-esteem.
Comparison.
Imposter syndrome.
Fear of judgement.

Is there a phrase, quote or a saying that you really like?

Live to Thrive, not Survive!

Be Good, Be Kind, Be Lovely: don't be ugly - remember who and whose you are! I used to say this to my children each time before they would go out!

What companies, brands, or institutions do you like or do you think are getting it right?

IIN Integrative Nutrition School is based in NYC. It is a teaching and training institution for Health Coaches in holistic Health and Wellbeing.

One brand I love is Outland Denim; it is an Australian fashion brand that not only ethically sources its cotton and materials but trains and employs a team of women in Cambodia, paying them a living wage.

How do you define success, and what lessons have you learned so far that you could share with our audience/readership?

Live the Life you Love. It is not about material possessions but finding inner passion and peace that surpasses understanding. It starts with you! You must believe in yourself even if it's scary; no one can do it for you. So follow your heart and dreams, seek support, try new things, and never give up!
